তাঁত শিল্প (Tant Art)

বিষ্ণুপুরে তন্তুবায়দের তৈরী শাড়ীর যথেষ্ট কদর আছে সারা পশ্চিমবঙ্গে তথা ভারতবর্ষে। এখানে মূলত তসর ও সিল্কের থান এবং শাড়ি তৈরী হয়। বর্তমানের তৈরী বালুচরী শাড়ি সারা দেশে তথা বিশ্বের বাজারেও নাম করেছে। এখন এই শাড়িতে জরির নিত্যনূতন নকসা দিয়ে কাজ হয়, যা স্বর্ণচরী নামে পরিচিত। এই শিল্পে অনেকে রাজ্যস্তরে পুরস্কৃত হয়েছেন। শাড়ীতে রামায়ণ, মহাভারত, পশুপাখী, রাজা-বাদশা ও ফুলকারির কাজ ফুটিয়ে তােলা হয়।

The saris made by Tantubayads in Bishnupur are highly valued all over West Bengal and India. Here mainly tasar and silk thanas and sarees are made. Today's Baluchari sarees have made a name for themselves in the country as well as in the world market. Now this saree is worked with latest designs of lace, which is known as Swarnachari. Many have been awarded at the state level in this industry. Ramayana, Mahabharata, animals, king-kings and phulkari are depicted on the saree.
